A fun nautical apron is a great gift for someone who spends a lot of time preparing meals for family and friends, whether that's in the kitchen, in front of a barbeque grillo, or in the galley of a their boat. Aprons make a wonderful hostess gift, too.

The anchor is a universally recognized symbol of of the sea, and is appreciated by anyone who likes to be on or around the ocean. But, it particularly brings to mind maritime travels, and is appreciated the world over by sea lovers.

On this nautical apton, the words "galley chef" can be replaced with the recipient's name for a personalized gift.

More Marine Trivia

Fog Horns, Lobsters, and Salt
  1. Musical Fog Horn - While most cruise ship fog horns sound the standard "EEEEEE-OOOOOO" sound, the ones from Disney Cruise Line play the tune of first line of the song that begins "When you wish upon a star." Sometimes, we can hear the special horn from our yard when a DCL ship leaves port. **
  2. Lobsters are not red in the ocean. They are actually a brownish or dingy green color. This actually a mix of brown, green, and some red, which is masked by the other colors. It is when they are cooked that the red pigment emerges.
  3. Salt Water - The Atlantic Ocean is saltier than the Pacific Ocean. But the Dead Sea is eight times saltier! In fact, the Dead Sea is too salty for anything to live in it.

**NOTE: If you'd like to hear the different sounds of the fog horns of a cuple of differnt ships, look a little farther down the page. You'll find two different videos. On one, the Queen Mary 2 blows her horn. On the other, you'll hear the meoldious tones from a Disney ship.

Wine Bottle Holders

for the Kitchen Counter

A lot of us don't have a separate bar in our home, so we keep our wine in the kitchen, or in a close by room.

Why not keep that wine right on your counter in a nautical wine bottle holder?   This counter top wine rack  can go on your bar or counter if  you have plenty of space there. it holds four bottles flanked by a pair or anchors.  Your favorite vino will be at the ready - in nautical style!

However, if counter space is at a bit of a premium, but you'd still like to display a single bottle, why not indulge in a seashell wine bottle holder, like the one shown here?

It's nice to be able to combine form and function!

Nautical Trivet

Ocean Blue

Some people use trivets strictly for decoration, others use them as coasters, spoon rests, or they place hot bowls and plates on them.

What's YOUR favorite use for a trivet?

Here's one that just may make you yearn to spend a little time at sea ... a view of the wide, blue ocean, as seen from the balcony of a cruise ship.

It's just right for holding a nice warm cup of tea or cocoa. (While you wait for that seafood dinner to be ready, of course.)

I think it's about the simplest of all - a nautical spoon rest. Saw one I really liked on Amazon a couple of years ago, didn't order, it went out of stock. Been looking for one just like it ever since.
